File Types

The File Types section allows administrators to define and manage the types of documents that can be uploaded or used within modules or entities across Vault Synapse. This ensures consistency in file handling, enforces size limits, and improves control over documentation standards within the organization.

Each file type entry includes key details:

  • Name – The name or label of the document type.
  • Entity Type – The module or entity the file is associated with.
  • File Type – The acceptable document format (e.g., PDF, PNG, DOCX).
  • Maximum Size – The maximum file size allowed, in megabytes (MB).

For each listed item, the 3 dots (...) at the end of the row provides options to edit the file type settings or restore them to their default values. This flexible setup allows you to tailor file configurations to meet your organization’s operational and security requirements.

How to add new entity/file type

Select the Organization from the menu in your name initials and click on the Configuration tab in the navigation header. In the General side menu click on File Types and press the Add New button in the top right corner of the screen.

A modal window will pop up.

Fill out the following fields:

  • Entity Type – Defines which entity/module the file type belongs to. Select an option from the dropdown menu.
  • File Types – Select PDF, PNG, xlc, DOCX, JPEG, or other from the dropdown list.
  • Max Size (in MB) – Enter a number for max size in MB.

When you finish, click Save
